Non-freezing esterification catalyst.
Promotes the one-pot synthesis of esters by high-temperature exchange reaction between carbonates and anhydrides: Synth. Commun., 29, 917 (1999).
In combination with KO-t-Bu promotes self-condensation of aldehydes to aldols. Crossed-aldol condensations are also effected in high yield: Tetrahedron Lett., 41, 4415 (2000).
