Elemental Form| Beryllium, steel-gray in color, is the lightest structural metal and has one of the highest melting points of the light metals. At ordinary temperatures, beryllium resists oxidation in air. The element is resistant to concentrated nitric acid, is nonmagnetic, and offers excellent thermal conductivity.
