Anwendungen

Analytical chemistry reagent for detecting inorganic ions. Source of cesium metal. Phase transfer catalyst in organic chemistry. Used for density gradient work to separate and purify proteins (isopycnic centrifugation) including chromosomal, plasmid and organelle (mitochondrial or plasmid) DNAs, and different RNA types. Preparation of electrically conducting glasses and screens of cathode ray tubes.

Bemerkungen

Cesium chloride crystals are very hygroscopic and gradually disintegrate at ambient conditions.
