Soluble in fused potassium hydroxide. Insoluble in ether and acetone. Decomposes in water to Sr(OH){2} with evolution of heat.Slightly soluble in alcohol. Insoluble in acetone and ether.

Anwendungen

In the manufacture of strontium salts, pyrotechnics, pigments, in greases and soaps and as a desiccant.Strontium oxide was used to make television picture tube glass. It finds application in glass, optic and ceramic industries. It is an active component of paint dryers. It is also used to prepare pure strontium upon heating with aluminum under vacuum.

Bemerkungen

Moisture sensitive. Keep the container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Incompatible with water.
