Sparingly soluble in hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and ammonium hydroxide.

Anwendungen

It is widely used in fluorination of organic compounds, as additive of electrolytic aluminum and also in electroplating baths. It is used in preserving food, manufacture of flux, oxygen-sensitive applications such as metal production, glasses, enamels, fabrics and plastics. It is also used in oil refining, manufacture of pharmaceuticals, manufacture phosphors for fluorescent electric lights, and floor coverings.

Bemerkungen

Hygroscopic. Hydrolysis occurs in hot water to produce zinc hydroxyfluoride.
