Sodium n-octyl sulfate is a useful chemical to study the selective enrichment of albumin in biological samples and to determine the mixed solution of a glycerin-modified cationic surfactant and an anionic surfactant. It finds application as an anionic detergent and ion -pairing reagent used in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
