Chemical Properties

Reacts with water.


Europium is used in the form of its salts as coatings for cathode ray tubes and in the form of its organic derivatives as shift reagents in NMR spectroscopy. It is used as a neutron absorber, in color TV phosphorus. It is also used in the anti-counterfeiting phosphors in eurobanknotes. It is a dopant in some types of glass in lasers and other optoelectronic devices.


It is moisture sensitive store under inert gas. Store away from oxidizing agents, acids, water/ moisture.
