Applications

Lithium carbonate-based glasses are used in overware. Used in the manufacture of lithium-ion battery cathodes. Pharmaceutical composition of lithium carbonate has been shown to exhibit antimanic effects specifically to treat mania associated with bipolar disorder. Used in both low-fire and high-fire ceramic glaze, tile adhesives, and in the processing of metal oxides.

Notes

Stable compound. Reactive towards oxidizing agents and acids. Violent reaction has been reported with fluorine.
