Terbium(III) chloride hexahydrate is a water soluble source used for the preparation of metallic terbium, which is used in electronic devices and an additive for special alloy namely Terfenol-D. It is used in the preparation of complexes, which are used in the spectrofluorimetric determination of various chemicals in pharmaceutical formulations. Further, it finds use in the preparation of terbium nanotubes.
