Samarium Cobalt powder, -30 mesh

Chemical Properties

approx. ratio: Sm:Cu:Fe:Zr:Co; 25.5:5:14:3:52.5 wt
Storage & Sensitivity
Moisture Sensitive. Air Sensitive. Ambient temperatures.
It is insoluble in water, but soluble in acids.

It can be used as catalyst and chemical reagent. In its usual oxidized form, samarium is added to ceramics and glasses where it increases absorption of infrared light. Samarium-149 has high cross-section for neutron capture and is therefore used in the control rods of nuclear reactors.

Should be stored in a low humidity and mild temperature environment.  Avoid from acids, oxygen, water, halogenated hydrocarbons, phosphorus, nitrogen, or strong oxidizing agents.
