Soluble in water, anhydrous amine, alcohol, ether, polar solvents and acetonitrile.

Applications

Praseodymium(III) nitrate hydrate is used in fluorescent display tubes and phosphors. It is also used in the ultrasonic synthesis of phase-pure praseodymium molybdate. It plays a major role in the solvothermal process for formation of doped lanthanide oxysulfide.

Notes

Hygroscopic. Incompatible with strong reducing agents, powdered metals and strong acids.
