Amberlite|r IRN-77 is used in the primary water treatment for the removal of fission products, activated corrosion products and suspended matter. It is also used to control the pH of the reactor coolant stream by removing the excess lithium. Further, it is used in the removal of radioactive cations such as Cesium from waste streams. In addition to this, it is used as a cation exchanger to determine the sorption activity towards cesium(I) and strontium(II) using isothermal titration calorimetry and solution-depletion method.
