Miscible with chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, carbon disulfide, cyclohexane, methanol, ethyl acetate, toluene, benzene, n-hexane, butan-2-ol, bromoethane, n-heptane, glycerol and diethyl ether.

Applications

Iodine, 1.0N standardized solution is used for accurate volumetric analysis. It is also used as a disinfectant and antibacterial agent in solutions, tinctures and salves.

Notes

Incompatible withrubber, plastics, iron and iron salts, sulphur compounds, ammonia, magnesium, zinc, aluminum, metals, alkalies, antimony salts, arsenites, bromides, chlorides, iodides, thiocyanates, ferrous salts, hypophosphites, morphine salts, oils, creosote, phosphates, tannins, tartrates, antimony, acetylene, acetaldehyde and strong oxidizing agents.
