Chemical Properties

It is insoluble in water.


Used in hydrogenation of aromatic and aliphatic nitro groups, in reductive alkylation/amination, hydrogenation of aromatic carbonyls, olefins, nitriles, catalyst in the Suzuki reaction and Stille reaction.


Palladium on carbon should always be handled under an inert atmosphere (preferably argon), and reaction vessels should be flushed with inert gas before the catalyst is added.
