Soluble in water, liquid ammonia. Slightly soluble in ethanol and acetone. Insoluble in nitric acid.

Applications

Used in the manufacture of lights, flares, flame tube, the TV picture tube with the red light emitting agent, red fireworks, optical glass and phosphor. It is used as a colorant (red) in pyrotechnics and is also used as an oxidizer in pyrotechnics.

Notes

Hygroscopic. Incompatible with strong reducing agents, combustible material.
