Applications

zinc sulfide is used in X-ray and television screens, luminous paints, pigments, phosphors, and plastics. It is also acts as a friction material. Other uses includes inks, lacquers, cosmetics, paper, oilcloths, linoleum, leather, and dental rubber, e.g., lithopone; Also used in luminous watch dials, white and opaque glass, color lakes, plastics, dyes (hydrosulfite process), phosphors infrared thin films, surfactants in sulfide flotation concentrates (coal and iron ores), and fertilizers. Zinc Sulfide is used industrially and by military customers to make finished optical lenses, windows, and domes.
