Applications

Antimony(III) bromide is used in the synthesis of antimony compounds, in semiconductors and chemical analysis. It acts as a fire retardant in polyethylene polymers, as mordant and in dyeing.

Notes

Moisture, light and heat sensitive. It slowly hydrolyzes in water to form antimony(III) oxide and hydrobromic acid. Store in cool place. Keep the container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Incompatible with acids, water, strong bases, sodium/sodium oxides and potassium.
