Platinum, 5% on activated carbon powder, Type B105022-5 is used as a catalyst for the hydrogenation of alkenes, alkynes, nitro groups, ketones, and aromatics. It is also used for hydrogenolysis of cyclopropanes. Further, it is involved in the oxidation of alcohols.
