Diethylaluminum chloride is used as a catalyst in thermoplastic polymers and as a reactant in the preparation of aluminum-phosphorus compounds. It is used in Ziegler-Natta polymerization process for vinyl, olefin, diene polymerizations, linear oligomerization and cyclization of unsaturated hydrocarbon. Further, it serves as an intermediate for organometallic compounds. In addition to this, it acts as an alkylation catalyst and Lewis-acid catalyst in Diels-Alder reactions.


Sold on Diethylaluminum chloride contained basisAir and moisture sensitive. Keep the container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, water, acids, bases, alcohols, oxygen and organic halides.
