Applications

Calcium fluoride is used to manufacture optical components such as windows and lenses, used in thermal imaging systems, spectroscopy, and excimer lasers. In combination with KF, it is a useful fluorinating agent for conversion of other alkyl halides to fluorides. It may be used in the fabrication of microfluidic capillary electrophoresis (CE) devices.

Notes

Store at room temperature. Separated from mineral acids. Protect from humidity and water. Incompatible with moisture and oxidizing agents.
