Soluble in sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, ammonia solution, acid and common organic solvents. Slightly soluble in water.

Applications

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid is used as a complexing agent for many cations. It prevents metal ion impurities and used to remove excess iron from the body. It acts as a sequestering agent in cosmetic products.

Notes

Stable. Incompatible with copper, copper alloys, nickel, aluminium, strong oxidizing agents and strong bases.
