Chemical Properties

Formula
K2HPO4
Formula Weight
174.18
Sensitivity
Hygroscopic
Solubility
Soluble in water. Slightly soluble in alcohol.

Applications

Potassium hydrogen phosphate is used as a fertilizer, food additive, buffering agent, in molecular biology, biochemistry and chromatography. It is useful to increase the partition coefficients of amino acids in aqueous two-phase systems. It plays an important role for increase in rice grain yield by spraying chemicals including ferric chloride, di-potassium hydrogen phosphate and salicylic acid.

Notes

Hygroscopic chemical and incompatible with strong oxidizing agents and acids. Keep the material away from heat, sparks and flame and sources of ignition.
