Applications

Aluminum sec-butoxide is used to prepare photosensitive alumina gel films. It is also used in the preparation of microporous crystalline aluminophosphate AlPO-41 and alumina mesoporous material. It is used as a gelling agent of paint and ink and water repellent substance of wood. Further, it acts as an active catalyst and reducer of aldehydes and ketones. In addition to this, it is used to make high-surface-area alumina using 2,4-pentanedione as a chelating agent.

Notes

Air and moisture sensitive. Keep the container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, metals and halogens.
