Applications

Acenaphthene is used in the preparation of naphthalene dicarboxylic anhydride, which is used as a precursor to dyes and optical brighteners. Further, it is used in the preparation of active pharmaceutical ingredients and in plastics.

Notes

Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents and alkaline earth metals.
