4-Chlorobenzylmagnesium chloride is used as an intermediate in organic synthesis. It is used as a precursor for the preparation of 1-chloro-4-(4-methyl-3-pentenyl)benzene by reacting with 1-bromo-3-methyl-2-butene.


Air and moisture sensitive. Incompatible with acids, acid chlorides, alcohols, oxidizing agents and chloroformates.
