Glycine, is used as a compound for polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and Western blots. It is also used widely as a buffer for a variety of immunological applications. It is frequently used in the preparation of TG Buffers (Tris-Glycine; sc-296648) where the buffer is used as a running and/or transfer buffer for polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and western blotting. It is also used as an eluent in column chromatography. Glycine has been reported for use in the enzymatic determination of lactate using lactic dehydrogenase.
