Chemical Properties

Soluble in water.


Phosphate-buffered saline (DPBS, 10X), Dulbecco's formula is used as a buffer system to maintain cell culture media in the physiological pH range. In combination with glucose, it provides the principal energy sources of cell metabolism. It is involved to irrigate, wash and dilute mammalian cells. It plays an important role in the transportation of tissue samples and as diluents in various reagent preparations.


Contains 80mM disodium hydrogen phosphate, 27mM potassium chloride and 1.37M sodium chloride. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
