Tazobactam is a drug is used in conjunction with beta-lactamase susceptible penicillins to treat infections caused by beta-lactamase producing organisms. It acts as a beta lactamase inhibitor. It is used in combination with piperacillin to broaden the spectrum of piperacillin antibacterial action.
