Applications

Used to stain proteins in polyacrylamide gels.

Notes

Fixing the proteins in the gel is recommended before staining. The gel can then be stained with 0.1% Amido Black 10B in a 7% (v/v) solution of acetic acid for at least 2 hours. Then de-stain the gel with a solution of 7% (v/v) acetic acid. The detection sensitivity of Amido Black 10B is approximately 20% that of Coomassie Blue R.

IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water. IF INHALED: Remove to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Get medical advice/attention if you feel unwell. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention. If eye irritation persists: Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Dispose of contents/ container to an approved waste disposal plant
