Puromycin, 10 mg/ml in distilled water, sterile-filtered

Chemical Properties

Storage & Sensitivity
Store at -20°C.
Soluble in water (50 mg/ml at 20°C).

Puromycin is also used as a substrate of Mdr-1. It is been widely used in cell culture applications. It also induces apoptosis which was found as parallel apoptosis caused by deprivation of neuronal growth factor (NGF) in developing chick sympathetic neurons; however, this apoptotic activity can be inhibited by several transcriptional inhibitors such as: actinomycin D and α-amanitin (sc-202440) which has lead researchers to hypothesize that apoptosis is triggered through the transcription of particular genes. Shown to arrest cells in G2/M phase. Puromycin is an inhibitor of CD13 and DPP7.

Research Use only: Not intended for animal or human diagnostic or therapeutic use. Optimal working concentration of puromycin varies between cell lines. Usually, the working concentration for eukaryote cell culture is 1-10 µg/ml
