Literature References

Precursor of ɑß-unsaturated acids by Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons reaction with aldehydes and ketones. Compare Triethyl phosphonoacetate, A14120. The trimethylsilyl group is readily removed by aqueous work-up thus avoiding a separate hydrolysis step. Selective reaction with an aldehyde in the presence of a ketone is possible: Synthesis, 131 (1978).
