Applications

Yttriium(III) oxide is used to make phosphors for color TV tubes, yttrium iron garnets for use as microwave filters, high temperature superconductors, as a mineralizing agent for the formation of spinel and as a stabilizer for high-temperature service materials. It is presurcor for important inorganic compounds. It is a potential solid-state laser material which allows the efficient operation both in continuous operation and in pulsed regimes.

Notes

Hygroscopic and sensitive to light. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents and strong acids. Store in tightly closed container.
