Applications

Nickel(II) iodide serves as a catalyst in carbonylation reactions. It is also used as a reagent in organic synthesis, especially in conjunction with samarium(II) iodide. It plays an important role in homogeneous catalysis.

Notes

Light sensitive and hygroscopic. Keep the container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Incompatible with strong acids, bases, alkali metals and alkaline earth metals.
