Applications

Vinyl acetate is used in the preparation of polyvinyl acetate emulsions and polyvinyl alcohol. It acts as a precursor to polyvinyl acetate. It serves as an ingredient in furniture-glue. It is also used to prepare copolymers with other monomers such as ethylene, acrylic acid. Further, it is used to make adhesives, paints and plastics.

Notes

Light sensitive. Incompatible with acids, bases, oxidizing agents, peroxides, chlorosulfonic acid, ethylene imine, hydrochloric acid, oleum, nitric acid, sulfuric acid and 2-aminoethanol.
