Applications

Methylamine, 40% w/w aq. solution is used as a mobile phase in the perchlorate analysis of milk and yogurt samples by LC-MS/MS. It is also used in the synthesis of 9-fluorenylmethyl N-methylcarbamate and tert-butyl N-methylcarbamate, 7-methylamino-2-(2-quinolyl)tropone, 2,5-meso-pyrrolidines and 2-(4-chlorophenyl)-N-methylacetamide. This compound also serves as a building block for the synthesis of many other commercially available compounds.

Notes

Incompatible with nitromethane, acids, oxidizing agents, hypochlorite, halogenated agents, mercury, copper, copper alloys, zinc, zinc alloys, acid chlorides, acid anhydrides, chloroformates, phosphorus halides aluminum and perchlorates.
