Polyethylene glycol is used to modify therapeutic proteins and peptides thereby by increasing solubility and lower toxicity. It is involved in the fabrication of bioactive and immunoisolating barriers for encapsulation of cells. It is ideally suitable for biological applications since it does not trigger an immune response. Crystallization grade PEG is utilized for formulating screens and optimization.
