Triethyl phosphate finds it major applications in plastics industry as a flame retardant, plasticizer and carrier, where it is available in the matrix. A further 10 to 20 % are used in other industrial branches as a solvent, plasticizer, flame retardant or intermediate for the production of pharmaceuticals, and lacquers. Triethyl phosphate is a useful synthetic intermediate used in the synthesis of mesoporous spheres of metal oxides and phosphates. It is also used as an industrial catalyst employed in ketene synthesis where the compound is hydrolyzed, as a polymer resin modifier, as a solvent, a car paint repairing product and as flame retarder
