Applicazioni

Low density lipoprotein, labeled with 1,1'-dioctadecyl-3,3,3',3'-tetramethyl-indocarbocyanine perchlorate (DiI-LDL), is used to visualize LDL binding sites in cultured cells or to screen for cell mutants defective in the expression of LDL receptors. DiI-LDL may also be useful in evaluating the receptor level by fluorescent activated cell sorting, and examining tissue levels of receptor in vivo. Dil-LDL is an excellent marker of cellular endocytosis.DiI-Lipoprotein, low density, human plasma is used to study the effect of the surface density of nano-segments immobilized on culture dishes on ex vivo expansion of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells from umbilical cord blood. It is also used in the separation and cultivation of hematopoietic stem cells from umbilical cord blood by permeation through membranes with nano-segments. Further, it is used to transport fats and cholesterol around the body in the blood stream.
